Welcome to toroWiki!
toroWiki is a compilation of questions about MyCSUDH, toroWeb, and toroMail at CSU Dominguez Hills that have come to support@cp.csudh.edu. Together with the answers shown here, toroWiki is a technology knowledge base.
toroWiki pages are organized into topics that you access in the sidebar:
During the summer of 2008, CSUDH is replacing the toroWeb student information system with a new system, which is accessed through MyCSUDH. The impact this transition has on the toroWiki entries is this:
- Students who are brand new to CSUDH use MyCSUDH exclusively. Ignore all references below to toroWeb.
- Students who are taking summer session classes will continue to use toroWeb through the summer for their summer classes (e.g., registration and grades). However, go to MyCSUDH to register for fall semester classes. At the end of the summer, all existing student information will be transferred to MyCSUDH, and toroWeb will retire.
If the Fall 2008 semester is not your first time at CSUDH, simply log into MyCSUDH with the username and password you have been using with toroWeb and toroMail.
If the Fall 2008 semester will mark your first time at CSUDH, your first step is to activate your MyCSUDH account:
1. Go to https://my.csudh.edu.
2. Click on the link that says Activate Your Account (it's underneath the login area).
3. To activate your account, log in with the username and password combination supplied in the letter from the university.
4. Then you will be prompted to create two security questions and change your default password to something more secure than your birthdate (your “activation code”). Later if you forget your password, you will be able to reset it by correctly answering the security questions.
5. Go back to the MyCSUDH home page, and log in using your username (e.g., rjones26) and the new password you just created.
At MyCSUDH, you can perform activities such as checking your application status and registering for classes.
My password, the one I got in the letter from the university, doesn't work. What should I do?
If you visited toroWeb before coming to toroMail, you were probably invited to change your password/PIN. Once changed, that is the password you will use with toroWeb, toroMail, and Blackboard. If you didn't change your password and you still can't log in, contact support@cp.csudh.edu.
How do I change my toroMail password?
Actually, you'll change your password on toroWeb, not toroMail. FYI, toroWeb, toroMail, and Blackboard all use the same username/password pair. And, if you change your password, toroWeb and toroMail know immediately, but Blackboard doesn't know until the next business day.
I can't log into toroWeb.
If you get to a page called "Login Verification Change PIN", that means you logged into toroWeb! New users are asked to change their PINs (also known as passwords) at the first login--and sometimes after that first login.
Can I access toroMail using a POP client?
Sorry. Access to toroMail using a POP client is not supported at this time.
Can I access toroMail with my BlackBerry?
Sorry. No.
Can I access toroMail with Safari?
You can access toroMail with Safari 1.2 or higher.
What does "Corporate Edition" mean?
The toroMail product name is Mirapoint Corporate Edition. We gave it our own CSUDH brand: toroMail.
What does the message "Corporate Edition requires IE 6.0 or higher" mean?
This means that you are trying to access toroMail with Internet Explorer but that the IE version you're using is not supported because of its age. You can upgrade your IE version as a free download from http://www.microsoft.com, or try a different browser, such as Mozilla's Firefox.
I can log into toroMail and read my mail, but I can't send, forward, or reply to mail. What's up?
You may be experiencing problems with popup blockers. When you compose or reply to mail successfully, a new [popup] window comes forward. You may be able to overcome the popup problem these ways:
- Depress the Control (Ctrl) key while clicking the New button,
, or the Reply or Forward buttons,
.
- If you have installed the Yahoo! toolbar or the Google toolbar, ensure that popups are enabled in them. By default, they are disabled.
- Check the popup blocker settings in your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer) and change them to medium. E.g., in Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options... > Privacy > Pop-up Blocker settings.
- In that same window add the toroMail address, http://toromail.csudh.edu, to the list of allowed sites.
- Change browser security settings to medium (in IE, Tools > Internet Options... > Security).
- Add the toroMail site (http://toromail.csudh.edu) to the list of trusted sites (Tools > Internet Options... > Security > Trusted Sites).
- Turn off Norton Internet Security.
I can log into toroMail and I can see the menu bar at the top, and that is all--no list of folders, no inbox. What's up?
This symptom indicates that the subject line of one of the messages in your inbox has an illegal, probably invisible, character in it. You will probably be able to see the contents of your inbox using Mirapoint Standard Edition rather than Mirapoint Corporate Edition to access your mail. Corporate and Standard Editions both access the same mailbox. Navigate to http://mirapoint.csudh.edu/wm/to access the Standard Edition. There's no problem with continuing to use Standard Edition to access your mail, but you want to may check back with Corporate Edition from time to time to take advantage of its richer features.
toroMail says I'm over my 20 Mg limit, but I deleted lots of messages to make space. What's up?
Don't forget to empty the trash when you're over your storage limit. Otherwise, all those deleted messages are still in your mailbox. You'll find the Empty Trash option on the Delete drop-down menu:

I get the following error message when I try to log into MyCSUDH. What should I do?

This means that you need to add https://my.csudh.edu to your list of trusted Web sites in your Internet Explorer (IE) browser settings. Here's how:
- On the IE toolbar, click Tools;
- Click Internet Options;
- Click the Security tab;
- Click Trusted Sites;
- Click Sites;
- Add https://my.csudh.edu to the list of trusted sites.
